Advice:
To those just learning the game or looking to improve: I would encourage the repetition of the fundementals.
I would show them simple techniques and tell them to
build on it until their motions are second nature.
I would share the most basic secret of all - to just
have fun.
There are so many worse things in the world
to be doing than playing golf. Keep a cool
head. you will learn more and grow more by keeping
your cool and being patient. I have heard that golf's
mental scope mimics your personality. If you can't
stay calm, or you freak out or collapse at the first
sign of adversity, then maybe golf is not for you.
Because it is a humbling sport and always will be. But
the good shots should make you see the miracle of what
you can do. You are not a machine, you are not a god,
you are not perfect, though we all strive to be. You do
not throw in a vacuumed space with completely controlled
air. So what you do is really quite amazing and
perhaps a small miracle. If you look at it like
that, every next shot is a chance for greatness. We
all can play great and things go our way, but we all
will make mistakes, and how we handle them is what
makes us professional. So I would tell them not to be
afraid of learning or asking questions. Watch your
pros for technique and strategy habits. but most of
all.. again, HAVE FUN even if your not playing as well
as you would like.
Pet peeve:
Never say: "your on fire" during a
round or "Nice Shot" ..UNTIL... the disc has come to a
complete rest on the ground...
and never be disrespectful to anyone, always be polite
because you never know what you may learn or who you
may meet.
