Most memorable event:
The $50,000 Jam. I had only been playing for 3 months and had 1 local tourney under my belt. Had only used 165 + 141 world class to play with. Knew nothing about midnight flyers (nite flyers) rollers, or Huntington Beach wind. Finished 37th, which was 1 stroke out of the money, and fired me up to learn. Met most of the best players of the era and was hopelessly hooked
Memorable Win:
98 World Masters was dedicated to my brother who had died the week before the 1st Japan Open I won was also very special. Winning the world doubles (open) in Texas (houston) w/ Mike Young beating Kenyy and Barry was very memorable as well. World Doubles in Dayton with Steve Wisecup was special because it ended a 2 year Kenny/CR stint. They're all memorable!
My favorite events:
I went to the 1st 6 Japan Open events, the people, professionalism, beauty of the courses and food were awesome. Health, time constraints and expense make it tough right now. The USDGC has become one of my all time favorites. Same qualities of Japan Open and the BEST competition! Having been to all World tournaments, obviously I love the worlds for all the obvious reasons. Mainly lotsa golf competition and comradery. I did like the national doubles when all the best players attended. Did like the World Doubles when in conjunction with the worlds best players were already there. Masters Cup was another favorite.
Advice:
Know your plastic. Play catch or just throw and go get discs in an open field with no pressure or obstacles. Stay smooth and slow. Slow is easier to time; feet especially. The only thing that has to be fast is your arm when throwing far. When putting, don't watch your disc, watch the spot (link). Follow through, whatever the type of shot or distance. Practice putting as long as you practice shotmaking. Spend the extra time as it is the bottom line to scoring. | Division: Pro Masters/Grandmasters
