Compared to recent weeks this weekend was a relatively quiet one on the tournament scene. The primary action was spread across three PDGA A-tier events where Team Innova represented well.
The largest field was assembled at one of Florida’s more popular events, the annual Throw Down the Mountain in Brooksville. Hannah Leatherman (Pro Women), Matt Peckham (Masters), Gregg Hosfeld (Grandmasters), and Junior Team member Randon Latta (Men’s Advanced), all took home wins in their respective divisions. Competition was especially stout in the Open division, where Ken Climo battled his way to a 2nd place finish and Calvin Heimburg finished tied for 5th.
For Hannah it was a victory just to be competing again after an abdominal tear sidelined her earlier this year. “I haven’t gotten back to full power yet, so this weekend I focused on consistency and placement shots”, Hannah said. “Now I am back to rest and rehab to finish up the healing process so I can get back to full strength.”
Hannah relied on easy-to-control models such as the Leopard, Roc, and Aviar. But anyone who has ever played in Florida knows that windy conditions and rain are common.
The wind is always a factor at the canyon, especially for those big shots off a cliff. So when the wind picked up I leaned on my Destroyer and Firebird to fight the wind. We also had showers to deal with on day two so I used my GStar plastic for extra grip.

Out in Orangevale, CA another huge field assembled for the St. Patrick’s Classic. Philo Brathwaite continued his hot streak this season with a strong, 3rd place finish. Teammate Ray Johnson finished right behind him in 4th place, just three shots back.
The other A-tier took place in Appling, GA at the International Disc Golf Center where Kevin McCoy picked up a 5th place Open finish.
Other weekend winners include:
John Cloutier – St. Arnold-Inwood Open, 1st Place Masters
Matt Kern – Bowling Green Area Championship, 1st Place Open
