Day Two Update

Conditions were perfect and scores were low in the second round of the 2022 Professional Disc Golf World Championships. On both the FPO and MPO side, Team Innova is fighting their hardest to bring home a World title. Check this article at the end of each day for an update on how the Team is doing.

Scoggins and Fajkus are Heating Up

Six FPO players on Team Innova are in the top ten at the end of the second round. Ohn Scoggins shot a five under par and sits in a tie for 4th place. Ohn leads the field in birdie percentage, getting over half of the holes so far this week. She fought her way through a mid-round pulled muscle that had her limping through many of the holes. One of the toughest competitors out there, Ohn somehow managed to put together an amazing score, even while battling injury. Just four strokes off the lead, Ohn is still a favorite to win this year’s World title.

Henna Blomroos currently is in 6th place, shooting even par in the second round. Her throwing this week has been on point and she leads the field in Parked percentage and C1 hits in regulation. Henna got off to a great start in round two, but found some trouble on the back nine. Eveliina Salonen sits in 7th place at -6 and also shot even par for the second round. She leads the field in Fairway Hit percentage and C2 hits in regulation. Through a five-round event like this year’s World Championships, every player will have stretches where they struggle. Henna and Eveliina are both still in great position to win this event if they can put together a few solid rounds to finish out the week.

Lisa Fajkus, Deann Carey, and Jen Allen are knotted up in a tie for 8th at five under par. Lisa Fajkus shot a smoking hot -6 and moved herself 18 places up the leaderboard. Lisa took 3rd place at last year’s World Championship and is making another push for the podium this year. Deann Carey shot two under par and made 100% of her Circle One putts. Jen Allen had a tough finish to her day, but remains 2nd in the field in Parked percentage. With three rounds left to go, it could still be anyone’s year to win.

Heimburg and Latta Crush at the Country Club

Calvin Heimburg shot a ten under par, moving himself seven spots up the leaderboard into 3rd place. Calvin had a fantastic putting performance, making 100% of his inside the circle putts for the day and nailing three putts from C2. He has already won two Elite Series events this season and took down the Mixed Doubles World Championships earlier this week. With his distance and accuracy off the tee and his consistency on the putting green, Calvin Heimburg has a real chance of becoming World Champion on these Emporia courses.

Garrett Gurthie shot a -7 and is sitting in 5th place. Garrett won a World Distance title earlier this week and his big arm is benefitting him on these long, open courses. That said, GG is also 2nd in the field in Circle Two putting and has made six of nine putts from C2 between the first two rounds. When Garrett gets hot on the putting green, he might be the best player in the field.

Anthony Barela sits just five strokes off the lead in a tie for 11th. AB leads in Strokes Gained Tee to Green and is still well within striking distance of the World Championship title. Nate Sexton shot a 6 under par that left him in a tie for 13th. And Randon Latta shot the hot round for Team Innova at 11 under par, rocketing himself 66 places up the leaderboard. Randon has been putting up strong results at the past few DGPT events and is now making a name for himself on the biggest stage in the sport.
