Day Three Update

Team Innova on the Rise

Day Three of the 2024 PDGA Pro World Championships was quite the round for Team Innova. Eveliina Salonen tied things up for the lead in the FPO division – Now she has just two rounds left to secure the title, both played at the Innova Champion Course where she shredded in round two. In the MPO, Vinny held his position on the chase card and multiple Innova athletes shot up the leaderboard.

Top Innova Storylines

Hot Round by 3 Strokes for Eveliina

Eveliina Salonen had a truly exceptional day off the tee. She did not miss a Fairway, found C2 in Regulation on every hole, and found C1 in Regulation on 14 holes. That’s a lot of birdie opportunities! Eveliina shot -8, the hot round of the day by 3 strokes, to tie Holyn Handley for the lead.

Vinny in the Hunt

Calvin Heimburg is currently 8 strokes off the lead, but with how well Ivy Hill shapes for his game, don’t count him out yet!

Kat Lands on Her Feet After Tough Stretch

Kat Mertsch is in solo 3rd place and will return to the FPO lead card tomorrow. She shed 7 strokes on Holes 5-7, but went on to go 8 down in the final ten holes to salvage a good round. Erase that three hole stretch and Kat would be tied for the lead.

Holly Finley Doesn’t Miss!

Holly Finley is now the only player in the FPO with perfect C1x putting through three rounds. At 40 for 40, she has also taken more C1x putts than almost any other player, making that stat all the more impressive.

Sexton Aces Hole 4

Fan favorite Nate Sexton aced the 286-foot Hole 4, helping him put together his best round of the 2024 Worlds so far. This is the 2nd year in a row that he’s aced at Worlds!

Randan Latta Up 47 Spots

Randan Latta shot a -8 at New London that sent him way up the leaderboard. He is now in a tie for 32nd with Innova teammates Gregg Barsby and Väinö Mäkelä.

Top Contenders

Innova has many players in the top 20 of both divisions. In the FPO, Hailey King is in solo 5th, still gunning for a spot on the podium. Henna Blomroos is in a tie for 7th and has been throwing the disc as well as anyone in the field. Ohn Scoggins is in a tie for 14th, looking to move up into the top 10 in the final two rounds.

In the MPO, Joel Freeman is in a tie for 16th and moved 10 spots up the leaderboard today. Kevin Jones is in a tie for 19th, just 5 strokes outside the top 10.

Make-or-Break at Ivy Hill

With all the excitement in the first three rounds, it’s easy to forget that Worlds is far from over. The players still have to face the challenging Innova Champion Course at Ivy Hill on Moving Day and on Championship Sunday. Innova’s frontrunners, Eveliina and Vinny, both have playstyles that favor the long, OB-laden fairways at Ivy Hill. Catch the action from the final two rounds live on the Disc Golf Network.
