Dialed In for the Major
The 2024 LWS Open was Team Innova’s best event of the year so far. Ohn Scoggins won in the FPO with strokes to spare. In the MPO, four Innova athletes found the top 10 including a 2nd place finish for Calvin Heimburg. We’re less than two weeks from the start of the 2024 PDGA Pro World Championships and the Team is on fire.

The Rising Veteran
It is hard to believe that Ohn Scoggins’ victory at last weekend’s 2024 LWS Open comes less than one year from her first Elite win on tour. Somehow Ohn is simultaneously a seasoned legend of the game and also keeps getting better with each passing tournament. This is her 2nd Elite win of 2024, the first being the Open at Austin back in March. She took 2nd place at the Champions Cup, 4th at the USWDGC, and won the PDGA Master Worlds in the FP40 division. Ohn has not finished outside of the top 10 on tour this year. All that together makes this the best season of her career.
In Idlewild, Ohn’s throwing and C2 putting won her the tournament. She led the field in Strokes Gained Tee to Green, Birdie rate, and C1 & C2 Hits in Regulation. She was 2nd in Scramble rate and C2 Putting, and she took the fewest OB strokes in the field. After shooting the hot 2nd round at -3, Ohn had a three stroke lead. By the end of the final round, she had grown that lead to four.

In her career, Ohn has six Major titles in the Masters division and three Elite wins against the best FPO players in the world. Given those stats and how well she has been playing lately, Ohn has a very real chance to win next week’s PDGA Pro Worlds.
Streak Leading into the Major
Calvin Heimburg is riding back-to-back DGPT podiums heading into the World Championship. He tied for 2nd place at the 2024 LWS Open and was in contention for the win up to the final holes. Vinny led the field in Strokes Gained Tee to Green, C2 Hits in regulation, and was 2nd in Scramble rate. He took the fewest over par strokes of anyone in the field and was the only player in the MPO to only take one OB stroke all weekend.

Calvin is considered to be the best player on tour yet to win a Major title. His career is young and he still has plenty of time to win a big one, but taking down the 2024 PDGA Pro Worlds co-sponsored by Innova would be especially electric. New course, new champion.
Innova’s Sleeper Worlds Pick
Emerson Keith, a 2024 addition to Innova’s Team Champion, had his best finish on tour of the year at the 2024 LWS Open. Emerson tied for 4th place and was just 4 strokes off the win. He was 2nd in Fairway Hits and finished in the top 10 of Strokes Gained Putting.
Emerson’s best three finishes of the year have come in his last three tournaments. The next event is the 2024 PDGA Pro World Championship. Emerson is a player who has tasted Worlds greatness before, finishing on the podium in 2019. All stars are aligning for an Emerson Keith run at next week’s Major.

Top Team Innova Performances
Garrett Gurthie had his best DGPT event of the year, taking 7th place at Idlewild. Joel Freeman also had his best finish of the year, tying for 8th. Joel jumped 9 positions up the leaderboard with a strong final round. In the FPO, Kat Mertsch tied for 9th place. She took as many birdies as Ohn for the weekend, but just didn’t keep as clean a scorecard.

In neighboring Norway, Ida Emilie Nesse won the PDGA A-tier, 2024 Sula Open. The event was formerly a tour event and has a competitive field. Ida played earlier this year in the U18 division of the Junior World Championship where she took 2nd place. She is one of Innova’s most promising rising athletes.
