Day Three Update
The third round of the 2022 United States Disc Golf Championship had the lowest scores we have seen all week. Calvin Heimburg shot an 11 under par that would have been the new course record if not for Joel Freeman’s amazing -12 earlier in the day.
The Throw Pink Women’s Disc Golf Championship is starting to see some scoring separation, but on such an OB-heavy course, major stroke swings can take place on any hole. Team Innova has four FPO players in the top ten, all within striking distance of the podium and the win.
Four Innova FPO Players Make Top 10
Henna Blomroos currently sits in 3rd place at 8 under par. She leads the field in Circle One Hits in Regulation and is second in Strokes Gained Tee to Green. Henna’s consistent precision and distance off the tee make her a force on this relatively open, OB-laden course. Though she sits 7 strokes off the lead, if Henna can pull out a round like she did on day two, she still has a chance to become the 2022 TPWDGC champion.

Ohn Scoggins is in 5th place at -6. As seems to be a given this season, Ohn leads the tournament in C1 Putting percentage and Strokes Gained Putting. On hole 6, Ohn stepped up to a 50-foot death-putt with a grin from ear to ear claiming “it’s showtime.” Staring straight at the water behind the basket, she hit dead-center chains for birdie.
Hailey King sits in a tie for 7th at -3. Her 2 down in the third round was one of the best scores of the day. Eveliina Salonen is in a tie for 10th at -1. She leads the field in Strokes Gained Tee to Green and C2 Hits in Regulation.
Calvin Heimburg is Hungry to Win
Calvin Heimburg came out on Moving Day looking determined to take this Championship down. He shot an incredible 11 under par that moved him five spots up the leaderboard. Calvin leads the field in C1 putting at an impressive 97%. He has only missed one inside the circle putt so far this tournament. Calvin also leads the field in Birdie percentage, taking a birdie on over half the holes so far this week. Calvin is one of the most consistently top ranked players who has not yet won a Major tournament. Tomorrow could be his day.

Joel Freeman shot an absolutely unbelievable -12 in the third round, rated at 1091. He set the new Winthrop Gold course-record for the current layout and jumped 32 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 6th place. Between this round and his final round at the Butler County Classic earlier this year, Joel Freeman is showing that he can play some of the hottest disc golf of anyone in the game.
Anthony Barela, Nate Sexton, and Bradley Williams all sit in a tie for 11th place at -14. AB shot a great third round at 9 under par and leads the field Circle One Hits in Regulation. Nate Sexton also shot a -9 third round. If he can put together another strong score on the final day, Nate could secure his fifth straight top 10 finish at the USDGC. Bradley Williams shot a -1 for the day and leads the field in Parked percentage. With a hot final round, any of these players could push their way onto the podium.
