Cory Sharp was tied with Paul Ulibarri, a stroke back from Cary Trotter at the start of the second round of the Full Throttle Challenge at Solitude. By the end of the round he would have an 11 stroke lead after one of the best rounds of disc golf ever played. Shooting an amazing 66 on the par 88 course (22 under par over 27 holes) sealed the deal for the win at his home course. Paul Ulibarri finished four strokes back. Cary Trotter and Josh Anthon finished tied for 3rd. Cory dedicated his performance to his wife and their unborn son, Jayden.
Markus Källström returned to Europe with a big win at the British Open in Colchester, England. While it was a close battle, and he was tied for the lead going into the final nine, he shot five strokes lower to take the win. In Masters, Marco Lehousse won by six shooting well above his rating.
Global Disc Golf Tournament Highlights
With 15 events across the globe, including Japan, Australia, and Europe, players battle locally, but competed against players in their division globally. Sarah Stanhope won the global challenge in the womens division on the strength of her 1000 rated first round at the IDGC. Markus Källström tied for 4th in the Open division, Marco Lehousse took 2nd in Masters, and Dave Greenwell was 2nd in Grandmasters. This event should be a lot larger next year. It was an interesting format!
David Wiggins Jr. wins his first Oak Hollow Open in High Point, NC. Terry Gallops takes second, Brian Schweberger finishes fifth.
Nate Sexton wins the Calapooia Classic in Albany, OR.
Josh Childs wins IDGC Global Tournament event in Appling, GA.
Pam Reineke wins at the Tour Del Sol #11 at Turkey Lake, Orlando, FL.
