It was a barnburner in Louisville this weekend, as disc golf’s top thoroughbreds galloped into the Bluegrass State for the Charlie Vettiner Open. Will Schusterick charged out of the gate on day one with opening rounds of 47. However, Dave Feldberg hit his stride coming out of turn three. Feldberg’s final round of 51 was enough to race past Schusterick by two. Ricky Wysocki crossed the line in 4th. It was a photo finish for Nikko Locastro and Paul McBeth who finished tied for 5th.

Mike Moser enjoyed another Breeze and Treeze weekend, once again posting back-to-back wins at the Brandywine “Breeze” on Saturday and the Lums Pond “Treeze” on Sunday. This was Mike’s 5th time to double up at these events (2003, 2006, 2010-2012) and his 5th consecutive win at Brandywine.

Also doing their mothers proud were Adam Hunt and Duane CD Steiner, victorious at the Capital City Classic, Joe Rovere who finished second at the Grateful Disc Spring Championships, and Terry Gallops, Brian Schweberger, and Brian McRee. The trio went 1-2-3 at the Big Valley Challenge in Durham, NC.

The first ever Women’s Global Event (WGE) took place Saturday at courses around the world. We were excited to see over 600 female competitors playing in 41 events. Valarie Jenkins, one of the key event organizers, placed second in the Daisy Chains WGE at Pinto Lakes and placed fourth overall in the global field. Val also shot the highest rated round with an unofficial 1016 in Round 1.

The PDGA National Tour finally swings back into action next weekend at the Masters Cup in Santa Cruz. It has been nearly 3 months since Paul McBeth won The Memorial in Phoenix, the first NT event of the season. DeLaveaga Park boasts a spectacular 27-hole design that is as challenging as it is beautiful. DeLa will give fans a much better idea of who this season’s true frontrunners really are.
