Stitched-up Schusterick Unstoppable

Fresh off his win at the Glass Blown Open, Will Schusterick made his way to Bowling Green, KY for the SOKY Championships. Many of the season’s other top contenders were on hand as well. Among them was Dave Feldberg on the heels of a huge win at the Copenhagen Open in Denmark, and last week’s GBO runner up Paul McBeth. While Feldberg was itching to get back into the mix here in the states, McBeth was aiming to settle the score.

During practice on Friday afternoon, a wayward disc hit Will in the forehead, requiring medical attention. Five stitches later, Will returned to the course unphased and ready to defend his SOKY title. He averaged 1053 rated golf for the weekend, pulling ahead of the field and eventually win by six. McBeth was again right behind him. Feldberg slid in to claim third. Paul Ulibarri and Ricky Wysocki also posted finishes in the top ten.

Nikko Locastro began the weekend well with back-to-back opening rounds of 49. He was sidelined after Saturday’s play with a tweak to his lower back. He has returned to St. Louis for treatment and expects to be back in action for the St. Louis Open in May.
